Islam that derives from the word ‘salaam’ simply means peace. Its main aim is to establish peace everywhere. It hates violence and injustice. After the advent of Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him), wherever Islam went, it helped establish a peaceful society. Madrasahs, where Islamic teachings are made available, played a pivotal role in doing it.
Islam respects other faiths and calls for co-existence and harmony among adherents of all religions. Its commandments enshrined in the Holy Quran and Hadees (Sayings of the Prophet) are full of such teachings. The students at the madrasahs are taught these teachings.
That’s why wherever these institutions exist, they become centres for peace. They never get involved in communal hatred and hate against people of other ideologies and religions, and see all with love and respect.
This is the reason why the adherents of Islam are found in every part of India. With the principle of co-existence and pluralism, the caravan of Islam marches.
