Need for Rebuilding
The madrasah is spread over an area of twenty six hundred square yards at Azad Market in India's capital, New Delhi. Over the past fifty years, several floors have been added to the structure to accommodate the institution's growing needs.
The walls, initially built using traditional techniques and materials, started developing cracks, with some sections becoming dangerously decrepit. The unsafe sections have been demolished, crippling the madrasah's functioning. The madrasah's limited space and resources also come in the way of its expansion, forcing the management to unwillingly refuse admission to many students every year.
New construction has already started for students hostel, dinning halls, prayer hall, library, study hall, guest-room, office, toilets, wadukhana, and other necessary facilities. The total area of the new construction from level I (0'0") to Level VI (+54'0") is 23288.04 square feet. The estimated cost of the entire rebuilding exercise is in the range of Rs.1.8 crores.
